Basic Moves for Cheerleading Routines : How to Do the “K” Move in Cheerleading

Hi! I’m Mandy Butler on behalf of Expert Village
and I’m going to talk to you today about cheerleading motions. Now I’m going to show you a K position.
You’re going to see male cheerleaders doing this a lot. They put that into male cheerleader
choreography because typically, guys don’t have the shoulder flexibility to have a good
high V. They might have it too far in. You’re going to see mostly males doing Ks, but occasionally,
you’re going to see a woman do it too, or it’ll be an squad kind of thing. What you’re
going to do is put your legs in a nice wide lunge. I’ve got this left leg. My right leg
is nice and straight. My right leg is facing forward. Notice my toes are also facing forward.
I’m going to take my left arm. This is a left K because my left arm is straight and my left
leg is bent. My left arm is in a left high V position, which we already talked about.
I’m going to take my right arm and put it across my chest making a left K. You can break
this. That’s a left broken K. Straighten it, it’s a left K. You reverse it, and it’s a
right K. This is the K position. Right high V. Left arm across my body.
