Beginner Kyokushin Karate Techniques : How to Block a Punch in Kyokushin Karate

New York. We are here today to present to you basic Kyokushin technique. We’re now going
to demonstrate the block for the signature low kick in Kyokushin bare-knuckle fighting.
If you don’t know how to do this, you’re not going to really last too long in a contest,
so it’s very important. Right from fighting position, you must lift this leg out perpendicular
to your body like so, you got to make sure that the foot doesn’t go rising above the
support leg’s knee. So on the count of one. Two, three, and four. And this is what it
looks like when it’s applied. Person tries to throw a low kick at me, and I lift. Go.

  1. Well they are not in the right fighting stanc. In the real fighting stance ones feet are shoulder length apart, ones belly button faces the target, ones toes point in a bit, your knees bend over your toes, ass sicks out, back should be straight, chin in, and head should be pushing up to direct power of the body (trick to keep back aligned correctly). your body weight should fall into the gap between your knees a bit. when it comes to blocking the balls, all you do is fall into your knees.

  2. Is that in Kyokushin Karate? If not, you can't say they're in the wrong fighting position. Hopefully you are.

  3. What if you're trying to get in closer faster while blocking with your leg? Can't you step forward after blocking with the same leg and strike right then?

  4. If You can stand the hit and know how to use your body weight You can take advantage of your oponents advancement by using that type of bloking

  5. Maybe if your quick enough, but you would be assuming or knowing your oponent is slower and/or will not use a combination in that attack

  6. you are not "just lifting" your leg to block – you actually forceful stop the kick! but you know post a vid of you fighting and will judge =)

  8. Well it is a great way to block a kick but the title says "punch"… I'll look for the other videos. Either way thanks for posting
