Boxing Lessons for Beginners : Boxing rope drill

This is a great boxing drill that you can
do at home or in the gym because all your really need is a rope, any kind of rope it
could be a jump rope, it could be a kind of string, a rope, because you’re not really
going to touch the rope. So you just need to tie it at the end of the room or just make
sure that you put it near your stance, remember your stance you have to be braced, fifty percent
on your weight one leg and fifty percent on the other. And you want the rope just above
your shoulder, not touching you, but that’s a good stance right there…and you have to
give me your side. And from here you are to work on your foot work, to go forward and
backwards and you can work on throwing your combinations at different levels. So here
for example, I’m just going to do the foot work for example, so if you’re standing
right here your hands are always right here. If I’m going to step forward I’m just
going to step slide and remember it’s step slide. That way I’m always braced that way
if they rush me at any time I’m always ready to fight back. Always. Okay, and if I want
to step back same thing: step slide step slide. Now as you advance and you practice more and
more you’ll be able to do the bob and weave to deflect the punches or go under the punches
and pretty much what you can do is start throwing your punches after that. So from right here
you would do step, and you could just, and the whole object is not to touch the rope,
not to touch the rope. So, notice how it’s all in my legs – it’s like a hydraulic
system, it’s all in my legs. I’m not doing this. It with my legs and then from here I
can step, I can throw my jab, step jab cross go under go under, step, and go back, go back,
go under go under, go back. And that is the rope boxing drill that will help you with
your coordination and your footwork and your punches and your bobbing movement all together
and you can do it right out of your own home.

  1. My dad taught me this drill when I was young, young. Now that I'm old and fat (haha, not so bad), I use it to burn calories and keep the bang in the arms. Thanks!

  2. rule number one dont touch the rope.. hmm he touched the rope alot tho haha it did make sence tho i must admit

  3. Jesus… you have students and you're learning from THIS GUY???

The same guy who did the ab and shoulder boxing video?

The guy who obviously doesn't know CRAP?

  4. Well dude… I have never seen the other video you mention but personally I think he did a fine job on this one. The drill was basic and I saw nothing wrong with the information in it. If you feel you can do better, you should post a video yourself.

  5. Dearest BastarsSword510…….what kind of nonsence are you talking your grasp of the English language is poor, 'gunz' 'your' rather than 'you're'…….I could go on but I feel it will fall apon deaf ears…..perhaps though you might concider changing you login name to something less aggresive as I feel that this homo-erotic name could be helping towards you negative self image.

It's "nonsense", "upon", "consider", "your", "aggressive", "homoerotic", "your" and "self-image". Don't throw rocks in a glass house, punk.

    somebody got owned….

  12. @RussianSpy75 highschool can be turned in to dirty fighing quickly with almost no teqnique and pure adrenaline resulting in 100% horribly thrown hooks and a headlock or two. boxing is a sport as well as an art, it takes more focus and patience. boxing will help you win a fight, but maa or some martial arts would help more with a highschool fight. Boxing is a sport of honnor and respect, as well as teqnuiqe and rules. there are no rules in a highschool fight. dont go in with a boxing mindset.

  13. @marcoez123 that last sentence of yours is so true.last week l got in a fight.lt may be second or third fight in my life.l do boxing for two years and that kid does wing chun (kung fu).l got my jaw broken because l was fooling around trying to hit him with and uppercut.

  14. Usually, if you do any kind of sports before you enter high school, you get picked on less. You don't want to appear bookish, but sporty. Sometimes, it's not so much knowing how to fight, the psychology for bullies is that if you *appear* you can be taken advantage of, they will do it. I was small n skinny in high school, but I was on the track team, so I was never worth the effort to be chased down.
Learn boxing: the cardio training is enough to boost your confidence. Eat, and lift weights.

  15. I know the feeling, look around for some boxing gyms. I live in an area that doesn't have many and i was still able to find one that was free. Go in, find someone to teach you, learn the science. I plan to do the same thing, and hell send me a message and keep me updated. lol

  16. Grow balls n get into the middle of the action ur gonna get hit 5 punches, but ul hit one you will definitely hit one that would stuck fear in those bullies, n they wouldn't wanna pick on u plus ur fear of getting beaten would go away, trust me a day comes when we all get beaten up one way or the other. one who beats is strong, one who can take a beating is stronger!…
