Cheerleading Stunts & Jumps : How to Do Back Tuck Cheerleading Moves

Cheerleading Stunts & Jumps : How to Do Back Tuck Cheerleading Moves

I’m Mandy Butler on behalf of Expert Village
and we’re going to talk about tumble tuck warm ups today. The third jump we’re going
to do is called a tuck jump. You’re going to be in the exact same body position you
would be in for a front tuck or a punch front, which is a forward flip in a tucked position.
You’re also going to use that same body position in a back tuck, which is a backwards flip
in a nice tucked position. I’ll show you on my back the correct body position you’re going
to be in in the air. Notice that I bring my knees up to my chest instead of trying to
bring my chest to my knees. The reason for that is if you reach too far forward with
your chest, you’re going to stop your rotation, in back tuck especially, and lean forward
and send your momentum into the ground, rather than taking momentum from the ground. You’re
going to want to go forward and up in your tuck jump. A lot of times, I will add a backwards
tuck jump to this warm up, but we’re going to skip this. Just know that that’s the same
principal, just going backwards like we did in the straight jump. I’m going to stand up
and I’m going to put my arms nice and tight above my head, the same as we did in the forward
and backward straight jumps. I’m going to do 2 straight jumps just to get my body nice
and centered. Make sure you stay nice and tight, you don’t bend your arms, because you’re
going to want to to balance yourself. Make sure your arms are nice and straight and your
body is nice and squeezed. I’m going to do jump, jump, tuck, jump, jump, tuck, jump,
jump, tuck. Careful not to kick your bottom and bring your knees to you. That’s the tuck
