Cheerleading Stunts & Jumps : How to Do Cartwheels in Cheerleading

I’m Mandy Butler on behalf of Expert Village
and we’re going to talk about tumble track warm ups today. Next, we’re going to do a
standard cartwheel. It’s the same concept as the cartwheel from the knee, but I just
don’t have my back leg on the ground. I’m going to be in a lunge position. Notice, I’m
in a pretty wide lunge. Lots of people try to start with legs too close together and
they can’t get the push they need front the floor. I’m going to have my front leg far
away from my back leg. My back leg is nice and straight and my right leg is bent. I’m
going to put my arms up above my head and reach forward. Again, remember that your cartwheel
is supposed to be as long as your body. Notice when I reach forward, I don’t drop my hands
or my arms down into my body, but I bring my legs up over my head. I don’t kick to the
side. I kick up over my head. Arms forward. This is the standing cartwheel.
