Cheerleading Stunts & Jumps : How to Do Power Out Round Offs in Cheerleading

I’m Mandy Butler on behalf of Expert Village
and we’re going to talk about tumble track warm ups today. Next we’re going to do the
power hurdle or the power out round off. The difference between this round off and your
running round off, or even your standing round off is in the approach. Rather than running
a little ways before you do your round off, you’re just going to kind of consolidate that
step into one hurdle. The beauty of being able to do a power hurdle round off is that
you can put that into almost any routine and you can series tumbling to it easier than
you can with a running round off because you don’t need the same amount of space. You can
do it in a lot less space. I’m going to show you the approach before I show you the whole
thing. I’m going to put my legs together with a slight knee bend. I’m going to put my hands
behind my back. Notice that my chest is up, but slightly forward. This is to propel me
the direction I need to go. My hands are behind me. I’m going to jump forward, separate my
feet, and reach my hands forward into round off position. Here’s just the jump. Hands
behind me and jump. My cartwheel leg goes in front, my back leg is straight, and I’m
reaching forward into round off position. This is the difference in a power hurdle round
off and any other approach. Now I’m going to show you the whole thing. Legs together,
slight knee bend, arms behind, propel myself forward. Power hurdle round off.
