Fitness Frustration 3 – I Don’t Like What I See in the Mirror

– Hi, Marta here. And this week in Fitness Frustration we’ll be talking about
not liking what you see in the mirror. Have you ever stood in front of the mirror wearing that particular
outfit that you love so much and you are like, oh, I’m so fat. Look at this, look at this hanging out. Look at this poking out,
look at this so wide. You know and you’re like I hate myself. Why can’t I just lose weight? Why can’t I just look how
I used to look in my 20’s? This is a huge problem
for your fitness journey. You see, I used to do the same thing. I would stand in front
of the mirror thinking, that’s it, I’m not eating any bread, I’m not eating any pasta,
I’m not eating any potatoes for the next six months. I’m drinking water everyday. I’m gonna train seven days a
week as punishment to myself for eating stuff I shouldn’t have eaten and so on and so forth. But, this is not how we do things. We first have to sort our mind out. How we speak to ourselves
is extremely important. Your self talk is the most important talk you can ever have in
order to have the most successful fitness journey. Our self talk needs to be positive. Our bodies can hear
everything that we say. Let alone, what other people are saying. And we need to forget that, number one. But what we are saying
is the most important so even when you’re
saying it in your head, I’m fat and I’m ugly, I’m this, I’m that, your body can hear you, and your body responds
to things like that. So we need to change our self
talk to be more positive. Now I’m not saying lie to yourself. That would be wrong to yourself ’cause you won’t believe it. But I’m saying start speaking positively. When you look in the
mirror and see that you’re not quite fitting into that dress, like, I can change things
and I will change things. I will do what I need to do. Like for instance, making
sure you’re committed to changing your body. And also, when you say
you’re changing your body are you doing it because
you think it’s punishment or are you loving yourself into shape? So start loving your imperfections. And then say, okay, I’ve got this. I’ve got this roll here. I’ve got this extra weight here. But however, I can change things. And don’t see training and
working out as punishment for what you have done. No, see it as loving yourself. Because when we start looking
at things as punishment we stress our body out. And as we know, stress keeps us fat. So start loving yourself. You may not like what you
see, but you can change it. So get yourself a plan. Go to a personal trainer. Or join up with your friend to the gym. Become accountable, start
actually doing things so instead of being
negative about yourself, start saying okay, I
don’t like what I see, let’s change it. And most things can be changed. So from today make a pact with yourself. I’m gonna speak positively about myself, I’m gonna believe in what
I’m saying to myself. And also I’m gonna affirm
to myself and visualize how I wanna look and be realistic. How I wanna look, how I’m going to look, and I’ll get there. Have the patience, have the commitment. Be persistent and most
importantly be consistent. Thanks for joining me on our
Fitness Frustration today and as for usual, if you’re
gonna start a fitness regime or start taking any supplements, please ensure that you speak
to your general practitioner or health practitioner first
before you do anything. Have a great week, and
I’ll see you next week. (dynamic music)
