Former Saints cheerleader wants meeting with NFL and $1 to settle civil rights complaint

I DO HOPE THAT THE DEMAND OF
ONE DOLLAR SHOWS THIS IS NOT A
MONEY GRAB, THAT IS A SERIOUS
ISSUE. JULIAN ONE DOLLAR AND A
FOUR-HOUR MEET WITH NFL
COMMISSIONER ROGER GOODELL. THAT’S WHAT FORMER SAINTS
CHEERLEADER BAILEY DAVIS IS
ASKING FOR TO SETTLE A CIVIL
RIGHTS COMPLAINT FILED AGAINST
THE SAINTS LAST MONTH.>>WE WANT A PROFESSIONAL,
RESPECTFUL ENVIRONMENT FOR THE
CHEERLEADERS FREE OF
DISCRIMINATION. JULIAN DAVIS SAYS SHE WAS
FIRED FOR THIS PHOTO SHE POSTED
ON HER PERSONAL INSTAGRAM
ACCOUNT, AND OVER RUMORS SHE
ATTENDED A PARTY WITH PLAYERS,
WHICH SHE DENIES GOOD>>THE CHEERLEADERS CANNOT HAVE ANY
CONTACT WITH THE PLAYERS. WE ARE TALKING, YOU CANNOT SPEAK
PUBLIC YOU HAVE TO WALK OUT
OF A RESTAURANT IF THEY COME IN. YOU CANNOT GO ANYWHERE THEY HANG
OUT. IF THEY DO SOME KIND OF
APPEARANCE TOGETHER, AFTER THE
APPEARANCE, IF THEY GO TO
DINNER, THE CHEERLEADERS CANNOT
GO. JULIAN AND IF A PLAYER REACHES
OUT TO THE CHEERLEADER, LIKE
WELL — BLACKWEL SAYS THEY ARE
REQUIRED TO BLOCK THEM. THE NFL KEEPS SAYING IN THEIR
STATEMENTS OF THE CHEERLEADERS
DESERVE A RESPECTFUL AND
PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENT, AND IF
THEY MEAN THAT, I DON’T KNOW HOW
THEY COULD NOT DO THIS KIND OF MEETING. JULIAN ATTORNEY SARAH BLACKWE
LL SAYS THIS ISN’T ABOUT MONEY,
IT IS ABOUT CALLING UP GENDER
DISCRIMINATION AND A DOUBLE
STANDARD.>>IF THEY CHOOSE TO SPEND ALL
THIS MONEY ON DEFENSE COSTS
RATHER THAN A FOUR-HOUR MEETING,
I WOULD BE VERY SAD. JULIAN WE ASKED THE NFL IF
THEY WERE CONSIDERING THE OFFER. THEY HAD NO COMMENT BUT THEY DID
SEND A STATEMENT THAT SAY STHE
— THAT SAYS THE NFL AND ALL NFL
MEMBER CLUBS SUPPORT FAIR
EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES. THEY SAID, “EVERYONE WHO WORKS
IN THE NFL, INCLUDING
CHEERLEADERS, HAS THE RIGHT TO
WORK IN A POSITIVE AND
RESPECTFUL ENVIRONMENT THAT IS
FREE FROM ALL FORMS OF HARRASSMENT AND DISCRIMINATION
AND FULLY COMPLIES WITH STAT
AND FEDERAL LAWS
THEY CONTINUED TO WRITE, “OUR
OFFICE WILL WORK WITH OUR CLUBS
IN SHARING BEST PRACTICES AND EMPLOYMENT-RELATED PROCESSES
THAT WIL SUPPORT CLUB
CHEERLEADING SQUADS WITHIN AN
APPROPRIATE AND SUPPORTI
WORKPLACE.”
ATTORNEY BLACKWELL SAYS IF THEY MEAN THAT, THEY’LL ACCEPT THE
MEETING OFFER. THE NFL HAS UNTIL MAY 4 TO
DECI
