How to do Advanced Cheer Leading Moves : How to Do a Front Hurdler

Hi, I’m Shyra from Excel Rebels in Orlando
Lakes, Florida. I’m going to be doing advanced cheer leading on behalf of Expert Village.
The next jump I’m going to talk about is the front hurdler. The front hurdler is also considered
an advanced jump. The front hurdler is done at the side angle depending on which leg you’re
going to put up. I’m going to do the left front hurdler, so I’m going to turn to the
left angle. You’re going to start this jump, it can be started in high V or clasp. You’re
going to start here, your arms are going to swing down to your knees again. When they
come around, your arms are going to hit a touch down motion. At the times your arms
are hitting a touch down motion, you left leg is going to be kicked up to this position.
Your bottom leg, which will be my right leg, is pointing down toward the ground, my knee
is to the ground. So I’ll be in the air this way and this foot will be up here. Then everything
comes down together. Make sure that you don’t have your leg turned out to the side. Your
knee is going to be pointed down at the ground. So, for this jump, you’re going to come to
a clasp up here, swing down, everything hits, and then comes back down together. I’m going
to demonstrate the jump for you.

  1. im not stupid cuz i thought it was a herky ; we were learning jumps at our skewl and this high skewl gurl taught us and she said that was a herky . so she messed up but i knw what it is noww

  2. ladies ik this is none of my business but if u want to have a fight can u do private messages? please cuz theres little kids looking on this ik ive done it to but i have a lil sisterr lol so yeah thxx a bunch Tokyo sundown and princess

  3. Isn't it spelled Herkie? I dunno I've never seen it spelled Hurkey.. But.. this is more hurdler than herkie. And her back toe wasn't really pointed.

  4. my goodness lord..i can do this front hurdle thing perfectly..but my herkie ain't that good?
isn't that suppose to be the other way around??

  5. Haha.

    one. a front hurdler isn't a herkie.

two, if you're going to correct someone, correct them correctly. It's spelled herkie.

  6. um…she like paused right after clasping…the clasp is supposed to help you with momentum…what a nut. But she got her leg up higher than I can…for some reason my legs are together and it's annoying me. I can get my leg up to my head while standing, but I can't manage to do that jump very well in our routine.

  7. omg.. im a cheerleader and they expect you to know all this stuff before you even tryout.. so THANKS SOOO much it really helped me get on the squad :)))
    <3

  8. so much better than your toe touch video but are they're even like advanced or beginner jumps? i thought they were just jumps you know and that's a herkie i'm sure because a hurdler is knee out to the side like doing hurdles

  9. @cheeriosryum a herkie is your back leg is tabletopped to the side, thats a front hurdler. .front. hurdler is when the leg goes straight up and the back leg is just bent back.

  10. I go to cheerleading.. It's called a Hurdle but we call it a 'Side Jump'.. Don't believe me? Im in Dundee Ace and we've been taught by Americans. The best of the best 🙂

She didnt name the jump. Thats just what its called, and how it's done. She definitely did it 100 percent correct

  12. @SexyChick10961 key words, IN TRACK. this is Cheer, and this is how it's done, in cheer… just saying. :~)

  13. @SexyChick10961
? Excuse me? I wasnt rude to you in any way so there's no reason for you to be rude to me. I was just clarifying. I do Cheerleading, and have done so since i was little. This is the correct way i promise you. This isnt a track move. She's not reffering to where you jump hurdles in track, she is performing a jump in cheerleading called a "front hurdler".

  14. @bemilycheer1323 actually that's still a hurdler but that's a side hurdler (and also your upper body should face front) a real herkie is like a side hurdler except your arms are in a punch, you punch the same arm as the straight leg. The reason it is confused with side hurdler is some people call side hurdlers, herkies so that when they people they don't get it confused with a front hurdler.

  15. @LovenRawr Calm down, little girl. As long as it's clean, it's fine. She's just showing the proper motions for the JUMP, not the clean.

  16. @LovenRawr yeah my cheerleading coach took one whole hour explaining how u clean and wouldn't let us leave practice until we did it right.

  17. a side herkey you leg goes out to the side, not directly infront of you, (think toe touch and hurdler havin baby! lol)

  18. All of u saying its a herkie ur thinking of basic on advanced they call it Hurdler so learn YOUR cheerleading
