Korea’s outbound shipments continue to suffer
from huge losses. According to the Korea Customs Service, Korean
exports… during the first three weeks of February… totaled 22-point-one-six billion
U.S. dollars, …down over 17 percent from the previous year.
In January, the nation’s exports dropped nearly 19 percent on-year.
The margin of decrease in January for Korean exports is large compared to neighboring nations.
China’s exports slid eleven-point-two percent during the cited period, while Japan’s exports
dropped twelve-point-eight percent. Korea’s plunging exports are attributed to
a sharp decline in shipments to China, low global oil prices and slow global trade.
