Meet the British Team – 2013 Tumbling Worlds

I just like that it’s different compared
to all the other gymnastics. You get a big frill out of it
and learning new stuff and the atmosphere’s great! Everyone in it is just like
a massive family. Every time you learn a new skill
you get like a buzz. It’s just constantly… there’s
always something to improve. There’s always
like a new skill to aim for, you always get that buzz. I love the energy from it,
all the audience and obviously the coaches,
they give us some great help. It’s a different sport,
it’s not very well known but also, you get
to do something different. It’s not just the same thing
every day, it’s a lot different to the other sports
that are around now. In the qualifying round
we have two passes, we have the straight pass
which you compete first, which means it’s eight skills and you’re not allowed
to do a twisting pass. So you can see ranges
from double trick transitions, to triple tuck somersaults. And the second pass
is the twisting one. For twisting you have
to do a combinations of at least a full twist
during the pass and a full twisting somersault
on the end as your finishing skill. So obviously you can
build up your difficulty however way you want to. Then the final is two open runs
so you can do any moves, you can’t repeat any skills
that you’ve already done but you can do any
twisting skills in both runs. Cos there are too many funny
moments to specify only one, always having a laugh
when you’re with the team. You kind of grow up
with the people that you see, you don’t see them
enough in my opinion but it’s just like a big family really.
