Meeting Your Future Wife Playing Soccer

Meeting Your Future Wife Playing Soccer

>>My husband and I met playing soccer, so it’s not only something that I do for fun but it’s a connection that my husband
and I have together. When I was practicing and my husband’s team was practicing at that time before we met…>>”Look, there’s a girl, still kicking the ball on the goal. Let’s go and talk to her.”>>He used to kick the ball over into our field
where we were practicing so he could run over
and get it so that he could say hi.>>It was a good connection I wasn’t expecting. Thinking about it, it’s a little bit emotional. I started playing soccer
probably since I was a baby. I was probably 5 years old. I haven’t stopped. I practice on my own, I go to the beach,
you know, nonstop. It’s just like I’m addicted to soccer.>>If you look at a week in our lives, we play soccer Saturday and Sunday and we watch soccer games on TV. I play with young girls on the weekend, girls who are 20 years old. I have to stay in shape
to be able to keep up with them. If I play with a different team, people kind of look at me and think like, “Oh, you know, here comes this old woman and, you know, she’s not going to be able to play.” And then when they see that I actually can, it’s like they forget about my age.>>I always wanted to stay in shape or be active, and when I see like pickup games at the park, and I go to the park and just get in the group, and I end up playing with young guys. And, you know, I like that challenge. At the end, no matter what the score is,
I want to have fun and enjoy. Soccer is more than a sport, it’s about friendship, building friendship with others.>>It brings a community together
and it helps people to see, “Oh, we can play together, and
we can get to know each other, and we don’t have to look at each other
as being different. We all have this soccer that brings us together.”
