TONIGHT, LEAH’S PARENTS OPEN UP ABOUT THEIR STRUGGLES TO CONTINUE WITHOUT HEIR DAUGHTER…AND WHAT THEY WANT THE DRIVER OF THE CAR TO DO. SHAWN: THE PARENT TOLD ME THEY ALREADY KNEW SOME OF WHAT HAPPENED ON THIS PLUM ROAD BUT THIS CRASH REPORT HAS FORCED THEM TO RELIVE HE PAIN MIKE JACKSON : “WE WERE ALL KIDS ONCE AND WE WENT OUT AND DID SOME CRAZY STUFF. WE ALL DID AND YOU KNOW THEY MADE A BAD CHOICE.” IT’S A CHOICE THAT COST THEM THEIR DAUGHTER, LEAH JACKSON, WHO WAS A HAPPY BLOOM CARROLL CHEERLEADER. A NEWLY RELEASED CRASH REPORTS SHOWS THE CAR SHE WAS IN WAS TRAVELING 93 MILES PER HOUR FIVE SECONDS BEFORE IT CRASHED TAKING HER LIFE. AMY JACKSON : “IT’S SOMETHING YOU CAN’T DESCRIBE THE PAIN IS SO INTENSE. IT’S INDESCRIBABLE. IT REALLY IS. NO ONE CAN IMAGINE THE PAIN UNLESS YOU GO THROUGH IT. MIKE JACKSON: “WE DON’T WANT TO SEE HERE DO DETENTION TIME. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HER MAYBE GO AROUND TALK WITH THE SCHOOLS, SOME STUDENTS, AND GET THE MESSAGE OUT. AMY JACKSON: “WE WANT TO TURN THIS INTO A POSITIVE THING. AND THEY TRY TO REMAIN POSITIVE AND HAPPY JUST LIKE LEAH WOULD WANT THEM TO BE. EVEN THOUGH IT’S NOT EASY FOR THEM. AMY JACKSON: “I THINK AT THIS POINT WE’VE DECIDED THAT INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON BEING ANGRY WHICH WE STILL, YOU CAN’T NOT BE ANGRY AT SOME POINT , WE JUST CAN’T FOCUS ON IT. OUR ENERGY HAS TO BE PUT INTO REMEMBER OUT DAUGHTER AND TAKING CARE OF OUR KIDS, AND MOVING FORWARD FROM HERE.” MIKE JACKSON: “THAT’S WHAT SHE WOULD HAVE WANTED.” THIS FAMILY HAS REMAINED CLOSE AS EVER AS THEY SURROUND THEMSELVES WITH CARDS SENT FROM THE COMMUNITY AND ITEMS TO REMIND THEM OF THEIR LITTLE CHEERLEADER. AMY JACKSON: “SHE’LL BE WITH US EVERYWHERE WE GO.” MIKE JACKSON: “WE GOT OUR MEMORY JAR IT WILL TRAVEL EVERYWHERE WITH US AND WE GOT OUR LILLY BEAR, AND THEY WILL GO EVERYWHERE WE WILL AND SHE WILL TRAVEL WITH US.” SHAWN: THE PARENTS HAVE ALSO BEGAN A SCHOLARSHIP FUND IN LEAH’S NAME FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR TO KEEP HER LEGACY ALIVE.
