The BEST High School Basketball Team In Basketball History

The BEST High School Basketball Team In Basketball History

teams that have been good and had future NBA stars, but this team didn’t lose in two
seasons and was the best high school basketball team ever. What is up dudes, dudettes, ballers, players. It’s ya boi MJ. Today I wanted to talk about the 1981 Dunbar

comments: Is this the best high school basketball team ever? Also let me know ideas for new story videos. Alright let’s get into it. There are so many high school basketball teams
with a lot of NBA talent, but not like the Dunbar Poets. I have been seeing other people say Chino
Hills with Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo was the best high school team ever and even though
they had one perfect season, they weren’t always unstoppable and had tough games. And though they had a lot of talent, it still
was not exactly Dunbar Poet level which had 4 future NBA stars. Oak Hill is always a candidate, but they are
like an academy recruiting talent from all around the nation and even a team with Kevin
Durant and Brandon Jennings was not undefeated. The 1981-1983 Dunbar Poets went undefeated
for two seasons consecutively and featured the likes of Muggsy Bogues, Reggie Lewis,
David Wingate, and Reggie Williams all of who went on to the NBA. Yeah you might be going who are those randoms
but David Wingate won a college championship for Georgetown while Muggsy Bogues became
the shortest basketball player in NBA history. There were also 3 other D1 athletes. Reggie Lewis, who was an NBA All-Star before
passing away, came off the bench and couldn’t make the starting lineup on this team. The craziest thing about this team was the
fact that this was A PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL. All the players lived in the same neighborhood. To have so much talent that there were 4 future
NBA players in the same neighborhood at the same time? That is INSANE! If you want a story on Reggie Lewis and his
tragic career or how Muggsy Bogues made the NBA despite being so short, let me know in
the comments down below. There aren’t too many highlights from that
time period, but everyone says that Dunbar high school basketball team was unstoppable,
almost unbeatable. They won by an average of 30 points per game
in a time without a 3 point shot or shot clock in high school basketball. To put up that many points and defend to win
by that amount in a slower paced game is amazing. I know that they may have not been as flashy
as other high school basketball teams or had talent that translated into NBA superstars,
but together these players had a combination of talent and chemistry that made this team
better than the rest. Add to that is the fact that this is not a
magnet school and was actually a public high school and I just think that this the best
basketball team ever. They made progress towards breaking racial
boundaries, went 60-0 in two seasons, and won against many top teams in the country. They brought home the nation championship
and cemented their place up as the best ever to do it, but what do you think? Is this the best high school basketball team
ever? Who’s the runner up? Let me know in the comments down below. The giveaway is finally here so let’s get

  3. I'm from Baltimore, where Dunbar High School is. Great that you know about that team. Great point about the neighborhood as well. You're talking about mostly poverty area, drug infested area as well. My wife worked with Mugsy's mom, at a sub shop. I think she called him Curtis though. It was hard for her when he went away to Wake Forest. What that team did was historical and there are documentaries made too. Hollywood should make a movie also.

  4. Hands down the best. I went to Northwestern and when u played against Dunbar High School you had to bring you A game even when you lost. RESPECT THE POETS.

  5. The greatest high school game Dunbar vs Camden from nj they booed muggzy when he was introduced, David Wingate finish with 35, Reggie Williams finish with 25, movies had 8 points 15 assists 10 steals asked Billy Thompson who was top ball player went to Louisville also Dunbar won by 30.

  6. Hey bro I just subscribed to your channel and I like to hear video can you please subscribe back and show me holding the next video if you could

  7. Saw a documentary on this high school team they had like 4 NBA players. And mugggsy wasn't even the best player. The guy that died Reggie lewis when he was on the Celtics was the best one.

  8. 93 Simon Gratz out of Philly. They won the national championship 7 D1 players and had #1 player in the country Rasheed Wallace

  9. You really didn’t say anything about the team and most of the video is about the chino hills who suck and the ball boys who all suck….you didn’t give enough info or respect to a team that is consider the best ever

  10. I totally agree being from the U.S. Virgin Islands our high basketball team was undefeated and dominated all teams in Caribbean islands,
Until DUNBAR showed up with a 5'3'' guard and big men with unbelievable basketball IQ that could jump out of the gym, we had never seen anything like this before the crowd was speechless we almost didn't score in the 1st quarter. Although this happened in 1983 it still feel like it was yesterday we still talk about it.

  11. Dunbar was the best ever, no comparison.. Plus it was special because they all came from a neighborhood near the school if I recall..

  12. stumbled apon this and I like your content man. But that instrumental is SO SMOOTH do u mind giving me the name please?

  13. Didnt all 12 dunbar players annually go to college ball scholarships? Wasn't Dematha close? and where are they noew?

  14. Pembroke Hill HS, out of Kansas City, Mo. Won 3 State Titles in 1997, 1998, 1999. Behind the Rush Brothers(JaRon, Kareem.) JaRon Rush is regarded as the best High School basketball player ever in KC history. Was a McDonald's All American his Sr season 1998. Top5 recruit. He verbally committed to Kansas Jayhawks. Then changed his mind to UCLA Bruins at end. JaRon Rush was incredible, 6'7 SF who could do it all, including hit 3s. He was just starting to do well his Soph season at UCLA, then got some TERRIBLE advice to leave school after that Soph season and enter draft. Went undrafted in 2000 NBA Draft. Then was last cut of Supersonics. Unfortunately JaRon had serious alcohol problems, and had shady people around him fr the get. Kareem Rush kept his nose fairly clean, had great career at Missouri Tigers, entered the 2002 NBA draft after Jr season. He was drafted 20th overall. Went on to make $10mill over 7 year career. They also had a younger brother Brandon, the less touted of 3. Who had great 3 year stint with Kansas Jayhawks. Brandon won a National Championship with Jayhawks in 2008, then was a Lottery pick in 08 NBA draft. Brandon went on to make $25mill. Brandon is one my alltime fav Kansas players, and even tho Kareem was a Mizz Tiger he was fun to watch. Kareem had the smoothest looking jumper I had ever seen. Seriously, go YouTube it.
JaRon…. By far the most touted of the 3 Rush bros in and coming out of HS. But, he made poor choices and alcohol ruined his basketball career. He blew so many opportunities. But I tell u this. I've never to the day seen a better basketball player in person than JaRon Rush. He was absolutely incredible.

  15. I’m a Dunbar 1984 graduate and with out a doubt this is definitely true. This team didn’t just play schools in the state, they traveled and played other nationally ranked teams, played in many out of state tournaments and was still undefeated. They once played an impromptu game with a traveling Army team of grown men and beat them. They were so popular classes ended early that day so that the students could go to they gymnasium and watch the game. The star of this team was Reggie Williams, a Georgetown graduate and #4 overall NBA draft pick. He was a little to light weight for the NBA but he was a man among boys in high school. Muggy Bogues, the 2nd best known NBA player from this team, was a phenomenal point guard and the best known NBA player from this team, Reggie Lewis, didn’t even start on this team. Then add in David Wingate, who had a solid NBA career and we really had something special.
